James Kalm sneaks his camera past the squadrons of guards to bring exclusive footage of this historical exhibition to the public. Richard Serra is universally acknowledged as one of our most influential sculptors. This exhibition, curated by Kynaston McShine, documents the evolving concepts that have impelled Serra’s work. This show follows Serra’s work from the Post-Minimalism and Process Art that garnered its initial attention, through the propped and balanced works, to his current practice involving huge plates of torqued oxidized steel. To truly experience these works requires the viewer to move through and around them, an experience that can’t be simulated with still photography. « menos
